Louth man 'with a heart of gold' paid tribute following his passing
Tributes have poured in for Robert (Bob) Byrne from Coolfore, Monasterboice, Co. Louth and formerly of Coolock, Co. Dublin.
Bob passed away on 1st March 2025, peacefully at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was the beloved Dad to Maria, Sandra, Liz, Michelle, Paula and Robbie and will be sadly missed by his son and daughters, sons-in-law Niall and Liam, 12 grand-children, 10 great-grandchildren, extended family, neighbours and friends.
Funeral Arrangements:
Reposing at Townley’s Funeral Home, Crosslanes, Drogheda A92 XN75 on Tuesday from 5pm until 7pm.
Cremation will take place on Wednesday at 1pm in Dardistown Crematorium, Dublin K67 HP26 and can be viewed live at https://www.dctrust.ie/location/dardistown/dardistown-chapel-webstreaming.html.
Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Bob, with one mourner writing,

"Our sincere condolences to all the Byrne's and extended family at this sad time. So sorry to hear this sad news.We have very fond memories of Bob over the years, great charactor with a great sense of humour. RIP Bob you will be sorely missed."
Another message said, "Our deepest sympathies to all of the Byrne family. Bob will be greatly missed, a neighbour of near 30 years, a gentleman with a heart of gold, We have had many great laughs over the years and we cherish the many memories that both yourself and your dear wife Chrissie have given us. A family that made me very much part of theirs. You will be truly missed. RIP Bob."
"Our sincere condolences to the family of Robert (Bob). We got to know Bob while he was in hospital. A lovely man for the very short time knew him on the 6th floor. May he rest in peace," another message said.
