New cafe and bicycle shop in Dundalk gets green light

Louth County Council has given the go ahead for a new cafe and bicycle shop at the quay in Dundalk.

The Bike Station Ltd applied for planning permission in December 2024, for the development at The Bagging Shed, George's Quay, Dundalk, seeking the go ahead for a development taking part in two phases.

Phase one of the development would see the temporary placement of coffee kiosk, toilet and signage into existing enclosed yard, and all associated site works.

Phase two of the development would see the demolition of the existing concrete boundary wall to yard, to the west and south, and would include the change of use of the existing derelict storage building to retail bicycle shop and storage.

It also includes the re-instatement of the existing derelict building, and new extension into the existing enclosed yard, to accommodate bicycle sales, storage and workshop, café and all associated site and ancillary works.

Louth County Council granted planning permission for the development on 19 February, subject to nine planning conditions.
