A 47-year-old man who stole €20 worth of Halloween decorations has been given a one month sentence at Dundalk District Court.

Darren McElligott with an address at St Nicholas' Avenue, Dundalk admitted committing the theft at Woodville Manor, Dundalk on October 26th 2024.

The court heard he had 97 previous convictions,including 36 for theft, and is serving a sentence with a release date in July.

The defence solicitor said that drugs are his client's 'main issue' and he was clearly intoxicated from the footage he had seen of the incident.
