Kilmessan Shield

Newtown United 1-1 Rock Celtic

Daniel Kerr’s second half strike earned Rock Celtic a share of the spoils in Newtown on Sunday morning.

The Sandy Lane side fell behind to their lower-league opponents in the opening half, but created a number of chances - a trend which continued after the break.

Kerr levelled, but Rock left disappointed having had enough openings “to win three matches”.

The draw extends the Blackrock men's unbeaten start to the campaign, following last week's victory at home.

Rock Celtic: John Rogers, Brian Soraghan, Paddy Reilly, Jack Reid, Ed Maguire, Ronan Doherty, Ronan Sands, Seán Hand, Kizito Ekwueme, Daniel Kerr, Jamie McCaul

Subs: Brendan Rogers, Ciarán Clarke
