Ardee Celtic 1 Redeemer Celtic 3

Redeemer Celtic made light of a number of absentees to overcome Ardee Celtic in Townparks last Thursday.

Shawni Dowdall gave the home team a half-time lead, finishing past Kyle Murphy after being found by Robbie Reynolds. 

But Redeemer were impressive in the second half, levelling through Barry Carr before Ray McCann put them in front. Carr sealed the win from the penalty spot 14 minutes from time, with Ardee’s Fintan Clarke receiving a second yellow card.

Muirhevna Mor 3 OMP Utd 2

Paudi Hearty’s Muirhevna Mor got their campaign off to a winning start at home to OMP on Friday night.

An early strike from Vinny Smith came before the Division One side drew level. Smith had the Blues in front once more, only for OMP to get back on terms approaching full-time. 

But up stepped Martin Smith - the ’Mor’s joint-top scorer last term - to earn his team a last minute win.

Rock Celtic 5 Albion Rvs 2

Four goals from Des McKeown earned Rock an opening night win at Sandy Lane.

The striker had three by half-time, with Daniel Kerr scoring the fourth, as they led 4-1 at the break. McKeown added another after the interval to round off a convincing victory.

Bellurgan Utd 4 Bay FC 3

Bellurgan’s new signing Coran Lindsay scored two, including a late winner, as they saw off Division One Bay at Flynn Park on Sunday morning.

Stephen Finnegan put the home team in front early on, only for Anto McLaughlin to level. Shane Finnegan and Lindsay had Jason McConville’s men 3-1 up, but Bay hit back before the break through Brian McCloskey.

The Rock Road men levelled in the second half when full-back Alfonso Crespo converted past Robbie Arthur from the penalty spot, but a wonderful effort from Lindsay ensured Bellurgan opened with a win.

Square Utd 1 Carrick Rvs 1

Square United were held to a draw at home to Carrick on Sunday morning, despite enjoying much of the play.

Aaron Kerley converted a free-kick on 34 minutes to give the hosts the lead, but they couldn’t hold it to the interval as Carrick stabbed home a loose ball to level.

Square pushed for a winner, which didn’t come, but, overall, it was a useful outing for the Ardee men, who gave debuts to Tristan Knowles, Gareth Kane and Jake Gillespie.

Glenmuir FC 8 Rossin Rvs 1 

Glenmuir hammered Rossin on Friday night with Paddy Nicholson scoring a hat-trick.

The winners led 5-0 at the break, with  Ronan Molloy (2), Liam Cunningham (2) and Daniel Mulligan adding goals.
