RIP: Heartbreak following sad death of beloved Louth woman who was 'full of fun and energy'

Tributes have poured in following the sad death of Marie Magennis (née Coyle), late of Dundalk, Co Louth, and Bruse, Arva, Co. Cavan.

Marie sadly passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 following an illness borne with great courage and dignity, a truly wonderful lady whose life was marked by kindness, generosity and a selfless spirit.

Marie was a source of joy to all who knew her, her unwavering love and compassion touched many friends and family, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to have known her.

Though we mourn the loss of such an extraordinary soul, we take comfort in knowing that she will be reunited with her late husband Eugene Magennis.

She will be sadly missed and forever loved by her adored daughter Megan Rose, brother Michael, sisters, Imelda and Connie (Brady), sister-in-law Breda, and brother-in-law Joe. Also remembered fondly by nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

Heartfelt condolonces have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Marie, with one mourner writing, 

"Deepest condolences Megan on the passing of your beautiful mum. She was the epitome of kindness. May her gentle soul rest in peace."

Another wrote,

"So very sorry to hear of Marie’s sad passing far too soon. Had the pleasure of working alongside Marie in AIB Dundalk for many years. What a character. So full of fun and energy and she was a lovely lady. Rest in peace Marie and deepest condolences to her beloved family."

While another wrote,

"Thinking of you Megan. Your mum loved you dearly. Condolences to all the family. RIP Marie, the most caring and funny lady, I was lucky to have known you x".

Funeral Arrangements

Marie will repose at McGeoughs Funeral home, Jocelyn Street, (A91 XW66) from 4pm until 7pm on Friday.

Removal on Saturday morning to St. Joseph’s Redemptorist Church arriving for Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in Killean Cemetery, Clontigora Road, Co. Down.

House Strictly Private at all times.
