St. Kevins take on Éire Óg, Carrickmore of Tyrone in the AIB All-Ireland Junior B Club Camogie Championship Final this Saturday, at 12.45pm in the GAA National Games Development Centre, Abbotstown.
The Louth side impressed with a strong 4-10 to 0-3 win over Pádraig Pearses in Ratharney a couple of weeks ago. Éire Óg earned their place in the final with a 0-10 to 0-3 win against Fr Murphy’s.
Speaking ahead of the final, Kevins manager Brian Brady said: “It's a huge step. I know that Carrickmore will be really out to win it because their main rivals from Tyrone, Naomh Treasa, won it last year.
“It gives them the foresight, maybe to push on, and hopefully the same will happen for the rest of the Louth clubs.
“They'll see what the Kevins have done getting to an All-Ireland final and push on, and hopefully everybody gives them something to go for next year as well.”
After securing the county title, St Kevin’s powered into a Leinster campaign full of focus.
“Yeah, unfortunately, the girls were knocked out of the football, but it really kick-started the camogie.
“They could really focus on the camogie, and we knew we had a battle against Collon in Dowdallshill in the final, but it was a battle, and we came out the right side of it.
“It gave us momentum going into Leinster, and we beat Glenealy here on our own pitch here in a real dogged battle. It was ferocity.
“There was a lot of cards shown, and it was low scoring in the muck and stuff, but we came out of that winning by four points.”
