On Saturday last, a small crew of eager St Peter’s AC athletes made the journey to Stradbally in Co Laois for the Leinster Cross Country B Championships.

First into action was the ever-improving Ellen McCourt. Ellen has enjoyed a good cross-country season and finished off her campaign by moving up in age and helping the Louth County team to take the gold team medal.

Sadhbh Sheelan, who is always willing to represent her club, was next up, and although not finishing in the medals, she had a really good run in the girls' U15 race and will have gained valuable experience throughout 2025.

The St Peter’s club had two athletes compete, and both headed home with silverware. James McCourt got the ball rolling when he had another strong run, finishing inside the coveted top twelve with an eleventh-place finish.

The last St Peter’s AC athlete in action was U17 boy Sam Jeytoo. This was a case of saving the best performance for last.

Sam got a great start and was in the mix from the start and held on to finish in a fantastic 5th place. A well worth trip for all!

Next event on the calendar will be the final event of the Cross Country season, when athletes will make the shorter than recent journey to the National Sports Campus in Abbotstown, Dublin, for the national uneven age championships.
