Louth County Council criticised for reporting of homeless figures

The homeless report compiled by Louth County Council each month, was criticised at Monday's monthly council meeting by Cllr Joanna Byrne for not having up to date figures.

Cllr Byrne asked at the meeting why the report was still quoting homeless figures for December, and said that the housing maintenance information was also out of date.

The homeless figures on the Housing, Communities and Quality of Life report given to councillors ahead of the March meeting, related to the timeframe of November 19 to 25, 2018.

Homeless figures for the week of January 21-27, 2019 for Louth have been available since February 27.

Last month the Dundalk Democrat reported that 156 people in Louth accessed emergency accommodation during the week of January 21-27 – a jump of 28 since November.
