Massive increase in homeless figures in Louth

Figures among highest in country

Homeless figures in Louth have jumped by over 25% in the past month, according to figures released today by the Department of Housing, Planning & Local Government.

156 homeless adults accessed local authority managed emergency accommodation in Louth during the week of 21 – 27 January 2019. 

This is an increase of 32 or 25.8% on the previous month. The only counties in Ireland which reported higher numbers, are Dublin, Limerick, Cork, and Galway.

The Homelessness Report, places Louth in the North East region along with Monaghan and Cavan.

Monaghan recorded three people as homeless, down from five the previous month, and Cavan recorded 3 - down from 12 in December 2018.

25 families presented as homeless in the North East in January, up from 18 in December 2018.
