Inniskeen Road to remain closed over next week due to damaged bridge
Damage to the railway bridge in Inniskeen has forced Monaghan County Council to close the road in the village until repairs are completed.
The damage was caused when the railway bridge in Inniskeen Village was hit by a lorry on Wednesday afternoon which dislodged 3 keystones.
In a statement issued to Dundalk Democrat this evening, Monaghan County Council said that:
"The District Office carried out an inspection of the bridge on Wednesday and we took the decision to close the LP4630 as we felt that a section of the bridge was unstable and a hazard to road users.
"A stonemason has been procured to carry out the repairs.
"Work will start on Monday 5th and will be hopefully completed by Friday 9th. The road will remain closed until the work is completed."
