Meet the Louth General Election candidates: Niall McCreanor - Soical Democrats

Niall McCreanor

"As a proud Louth man, I’m deeply committed to creating a fairer, more inclusive community where everyone has the chance to thrive.

"Having lived here all my life, I’ve seen firsthand both the potential of our beautiful county and the challenges we face.

"I believe that Louth has so much to offer, but it needs the right leadership to unlock that potential and ensure we’re building a sustainable, prosperous future for all.

"One of the most pressing issues facing Louth today is the housing crisis.

"Rising rents and a shortage of affordable homes are pushing many families to the brink.

"Housing should be a basic human right, not a commodity, and I’m passionate about introducing real solutions that ensure our community members can access safe, affordable housing.

"It’s unfair that many people are being forced to choose between rent and basic necessities like food and healthcare. I believe we can do better.

"Accessible healthcare is another priority for me. We need a healthcare system that works for everyone—one that ensures quality care is available to every resident of Louth, regardless of income.

"Waiting lists are far too long, and too many people are left without the care they need in a timely manner.

"As a candidate, I’m committed to fighting for a healthcare system that is efficient, fair, and accessible to all.

"With my background in renewables and education, I bring a fresh, forward-thinking perspective on how to address the challenges that impact our daily lives.

"I’ve seen the role that education and sustainability can play in shaping our community, and I’m committed to using that knowledge to advocate for the changes that matter most to Louth residents.

"Whether it’s creating new jobs in renewable energy, or ensuring our children have access to world-class education, my focus is always on building a better, brighter future for our community.

"Sustainable transport is also a key issue. Louth as a whole, is in dire need of better transport links—both within the county and to surrounding areas.

"We need to ensure that our communities are connected and that people have affordable, accessible options for getting around.

"The lack of reliable public transport is holding us back from real growth and development.

"I’m committed to ensuring our transport systems meet the needs of our growing population.

"I believe in a Louth where no one is left behind. A place where everyone has access to the services, support, and opportunities they need to live happy, healthy lives.

"With your vote, we can bring lasting change that benefits everyone in our community.

"Let’s work together to build a Louth that we can all be proud of—a place that’s fair, sustainable, and inclusive for all."
