Man (60s) dies following Louth collision

The incident  occurred at around 10:15pm.

A man in his 60s has died following a road traffic accident just outside Dundalk

Gardaí and emergency services responded to a road traffic collision on the N53 at Rassan yesterday evening, Monday, 6th April.

The incident  occurred at around 10:15pm. The driver of vehicle, a man in his late 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been removed to Louth County Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will take place.

A woman in her 20s, who was travelling in the second car, was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The coroner has been notified and the scene remains preserved for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Traffic diversions are currently in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward. Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) from the area at the time are also asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
