Dundalk Courthouse
A Dublin mother of two who stole almost €2,000 worth of goods from two branches of the same sportswear retailer in County Louth, was sentenced to four months at Dundalk district court last week.
Helen Connors of Kiltalown Hill, Jobstown, Tallaght was charged with the theft of €520 worth of clothing from JD Sports, Laurence's Centre, Drogheda on December 11th last year and the theft of €1,400 worth of clothing from JD Sports, Marshes Shopping Centre, Dundalk 12 days later.
Court Presenger Sgt Richie Browne told the court that on the second occasion the defendant, who was one of a number of females who entered the premises, had placed the items in a foil lined freezer bag.
The court heard Ms Connors had 27 previous convictions including 19 for theft.

The Defence barrister said there was no getting away from the quantity of the items stolen, but said that his client, who is on a housing waiting list, is separated from her partner who he had instructions “was a poor influence on her”.
Judge Stephanie Coggans imposed a four month sentence from last Wednesday for the Dundalk offene and marked the Drogheda theft for the lower amount taken into consideration.
