A white Dundalk football snood has become a clue in a car chase involving the PSNI in Newry and a car stolen in the Republic.
The snood was discarded, along with a large kitchen knife, by three males who abandoned the stolen vehicle.
In a statement the PSNI have appealed for information, saying:
“On Thursday afternoon, Interceptors from Sprucefield were involved in a pursuit with this stolen car. It had been stolen in the Republic of Ireland.
“The pursuit ended when three males abandoned the vehicle close to Pig Tail Avenue / Helen’s Terrace in Newry.

“As they made off they discarded this large kitchen knife and a white Dundalk football snood whilst making their way through Helen’s Terrace and Clanrye Avenue. Police are keen to speak to anyone who saw three males running through Helen’s Terrace or Clanrye Avenue at around 3:10pm.
“If you have any information that may assist please call 101 quoting incident number 975 - 14/08/25.”
