Lidl has been granted conditional planning permission by Louth County Council for the expansion of proposed store in the centre of Dundalk.
Lidl Ireland GmbH was originally granted planning permission in November 2022 for the development of a two storey supermarket at Tom Bellew Avenue & Bóthar an Iarainn, The Long Avenue, Dundalk with ancillary off-license sales area, an integrated coffee shop unit and 'Deposit Return Scheme' room.
The application has been granted permission subject to 12 conditions, which have not been published by Louth County Council.

The new planning application that was lodged in October 2025, sought to increase the proposed building's floor area from 2,723sqms to 2,792sqms, and an increased net sales area within the food-store from 1,500 to 1,706. It also includes a new retail unit of 60sqms.
The application proposed to move the off-licence section from the rear, towards the front and increase the size of the café from 84sqm to 109 sqm. Under the new proposal, the car park will be reconfigured with a slight reduction in the number of parking spaces from 136 to 134.
