Toales’ ‘Fireside Sessions’ will welcome the return of The Two Five Ones on Thursday, with Mark Brodie returning to open the show.
The Two Five Ones formed in 2016, with the Cavan/Monaghan duo bringing together Dara MacGabhann’s rich, old-school vocals and the deft guitar work and harmonies of Andy Hogg.
Drawing inspiration from artists including Billie Holiday, Julie London, Joe Pass and Barney Kessel, their music moves effortlessly between jazz standards, blues, folk and lively swing.
The music begins at 9pm in the bar at Toales on Thursday, September 10, with admission being completely free.
Friday will include two original Irish acts as the Eugene O’Hanlon Band takes over the venue with special guest Bedside Community.
Bedside Community is the DIY lo-fi indie project of Roberto Tamburrini. Written, recorded and mixed at home using old analogue equipment alongside second-hand modern gear.
Doors open at 8pm with the admission fee at €5.
The final gig of the week takes place on Saturday with Dundalk five-piece Mad Honey and ilikelife:alot.
Opening the night are Dundalk’s intriguing Ilikelife:alot, whose experimental, noise-driven shoegaze music is as menacing as it is beautiful.
This is an early opportunity to experience them in the intimate surroundings of Toales and discover what they’re about before everyone else does.
One of the town’s most promising young bands, Mad Honey have been steadily building their live reputation with an energetic, riff-driven sound and a stage presence sharpened through regular local appearances at Toales.
