WATCH: We pitted townies against culchies at Ploughing 2024 - who's tougher?

The two Charlies battled it out on the hang tough bar but there was a clear winner

It was a case of townies versus culchies at Ploughing 2024 as a pair of Charlies took on the hang tough bar on Day 1.

Settling the age-old debate, our reporter and self-professed townie Charlie O'Gorman took on 'mountain man' Charlie from Camross, Co Laois in the strength challenge.

Carlow Charlie was up first and last just 22 seconds on the bar. Camross Charlie followed and after a shaky start on a "slippy bar" he powered on through with over 40 seconds for Laois people and culchies everywhere, getting one over on neighbours Carlow too.

The pair shook hands afterwards but we've settled the debate once and for all; culchies are hardier than townies!
