Louth LE 2024: Drogheda Rural elects Declan Power

Independent candidate Declan Power elected

Independent candidate Declan Power has been elected to Drogheda Rural LEA. Speaking to the Dundalk Democrat he said that he is "delighted, it's been a long campaign.

"We've been canvassing for the last, probably over 12 weeks. But the work has been done over the last five years, I think that's the one thing that's been recognised by many of my constituents who placed their trust in me with their vote.

Looking at his priorities for the next five years, he said that "I think it's really the same. To continue to work, to roll up the sleeves. A typical Independent will always work that little bit harder, and I'm looking forward to it.

"I live in Clogherhead, we've got a massive economic potential of tourism there. We've got two green flag beaches in the area and we've got new scope now to develop that into an area that's not just for those that live there but for those that visit there as well. So that will be one of the big priorities."
