STORM ÉOWYN: Status Red lifted in Louth as people warnd of trees blocking roads across the county

Red Alert lifted in Louth

Louth has now moved to a Status Orange Wind Warning which is in place until 4pm, with strong to near gale force westerly winds and damaging gusts.

Louth County Council said the impact of the storm includes fallen trees, damage to power lines and outages and structural damage.

They warned motorists that very difficult travelling conditions remain.

A large number of fallen trees coupled with scattered debris are wreaking havoc on Louth roads, creating treacherous driving conditions following the lifting of the Status Red weather warning.

Despite the Red level weather warning for wind being lifted for Louth challenging conditions persist after Storm Éowyn cut a destructive trail across the county.

Motorists are advised to slow down and be ready to react to the unexpected.
