Louth minors will meet Wexford in the Leinster 'C' MFC final following a thrilling extra-time victory over Wicklow at Páirc Clan na Gael on Saturday afternoon.

Captain and senior star Niamh Rice top-scored for the Reds with 1-5, while Kodie McEneaney, Lee Lawlor and Ellen Carolan chipped in with goals to move Louth into the May 11 decider.

The hosts began the brighter and helped by three first half majors, the last seeing centre-forward Sarah Morgan combine with the scorer, Lawlor, led 3-2 to 1-3 at the interval, Rice and McEneaney hitting the other pair of three-pointers, while Roisin Crowe and Rice were point scorers.

But Wicklow resumed with intent and had drawn level, 3-5 to 2-8, by the three-quarter mark as the topsy-turvy nature of a frantic game persisted.

Louth went ahead again, but two late points from the Garden County sent the affair to extra-time, where the Reds produced the goods.

A high delivery from Rice was taken and finished to the net by Ellen Carolan as Louth held a 4-9 to 2-12 lead at the break.
Rice and Wicklow star Sinead McGettigan swapped points subsequently before Louth hit two points inside a minute from the Clans duo Cara McKeever and Lawlor to finally kill off the brave Wicklow resistance.
