Woodview Celtic 3-0 Bailieboro Celtic
Woodview Celtic maintained their 100% start to the Division Two league season with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Bailieboro Celtic in Muirhevnamor on Sunday afternoon.
Despite not making the breakthrough until the second half, Conor Macken’s charges were thoroughly dominant, never looking in any danger of defeat.
They passed up seven to eight clear-cut openings in the first half as they sought to get back to winning ways after last week’s Tully Cup exit against Thatch FC.
However, it took until the 50th minute to go in front when Niall Mackin gambled on a long kick from ‘keeper Pádraig Gorham and when the visiting custodian hesitated, he nipped in to open the scoring.
And the same player made it 2-0 with the goal of the match. Good play on the right flank saw the ball switched from Robert Mackin to Stephen Begley on the left. He passed inside to Dennis Cholach, who laid it into the path of his strike partner and Mackin made no mistake in picking out the bottom corner.
A third arrived late in the contest when substitute Brendan McGuinness’ low free-kick went beneath the Bailieboro wall and ‘keeper.
