Newfoundwell 1-3 Muirhevna Mor

Muirhevna Mor took a giant step towards reclaiming the Premier Division crown by handing down champions Newfoundwell’s second successive defeat at DIFE on Sunday morning.

A tetchy affair which the visitors dominated, three goals from former Quay Celtic players ensured the Blues of a third straight win.

Martin Smith opened the scoring with his third in as many matches for his new club.

Chances were traded either side of the interval before Cody Magill doubled the lead held by Paudi Hearty’s side with a fine finish to the bottom corner.

Newfoundwell hit back, however, when top-scorer Ian Devine, who plays for Quay in the Summer League, struck past Michael Cooney.

The goal sparked the hosts to life and they attacked in search of a leveller to keep their title hopes alive.

However, substitute Vinny Smith broke down field and found the net to ensure the points would return down the M1 as a frustrated 'Well finished with just nine players after two dismissals.
