NEFL Division Three

Robinstown 2-1 Glenmuir FC

Glenmuir FC suffered an agonising defeat away to Robinstown on Sunday morning.

A match Wayne Conroy’s side dominated for lengthy spells, they were hit with two breakaway goals as they suffered defeat for the first time this season.

They were left feeling frustrated at the break having failed to make their superiority count. Shane Finnegan cracked a free-kick off the ‘bar, while Luke Murray knocked a Liam Cunningham delivery to the net, only to have been harshly deemed offside. Striker Seán Bailey also went close with an effort on goal.

The Hoey’s Lane side conceded their first midway through the second half, when Robinstown broke from a Glenmuir corner to dispatch past Willie Kelly.

Finnegan spectacularly drew the visitors level, darting inside past several defenders before planting an effort in the net from the edge of the area.

However, there was to be late pain as Robinstown hit Glenmuir on the break again.

Glenmuir FC: Willie Kelly; Niall Hand, Dermot Grier, Colm Matthews, Liam Cunningham; Brendan Sheils, Ronan Molloy, Seán Maguire, Shane Finnegan; Seán Bailey, Luke Murray
