Competitors from CúChulainn Archers, Ardee and Wexford, came together to compete at the Irish Field Archery Federation Indoor Nationals (IFAIF) 2024 on Saturday.

IFAF is a unique style of archery from Archery Ireland, with distinct rules, categories, competitions and a different Governing Body.

The competition was hosted by Na Laoch Dall in SETU West Campus, Carriganore, Co. Waterford.

The Indoor Nationals was shot on a five spot-target on which the highest score is five points, if you hit the centre of the five, you get an 'X' as a score.

While the 'X' is still equal to five points, it is used to differentiate between archers if they end up level on the same score, as the archer with the most X's is then declared the winner.

Competing for CúChulainn were: Peter Gilmore, Senior Male Barebow, who took the gold medal and a new IFAF Record (pending verification), Ann Marie Murray, Adult Female Barebow Recurve, gold Neil Keeble, Adult Male Barebow Recurve, gold
Éamonn Rogers took the bronze medal and Niall Bradley came tenth in the hotly contested Freestyle Unlimited Adult Male Category.

This category was the largest of the day and yielded a high standard of competition with first place, 599 one point ahead of second and third - who were tied with the same score, 598, - and the aforementioned 'X' came into play to separate and decide who takes second and third place.

Coincidentally,  second and third places were both Wexford men, with a shootout taking place between Anthony Corcoran of Dunbrody Archers, who took the Silver, and Éamonn Rogers of CúChulainn Archers, who took the Bronze.

All competitors returned home after a enjoyable competition in what is considered by many as the best indoor venue in Ireland.
