Louth GAA and Fitzpatrick remain tight-lipped following reports he will not seek re-election

Louth GAA and County Chairman Peter Fitzpatrick have both remained tight-lipped this morning after the Drogheda Independent/Argus reported that the Clans clubman would not be seeking re-election at next week’s county AGM.

Neither Louth GAA or Peter Fitzpatrick could be reached for comment when contacted by the Democrat.

The news comes after a tumultuous year which has seen delays to the proposed Louth Stadium following intervention from Croke Park, a move which sensationally saw Fitzpatrick resign the chairmanship then withdraw his resignation in less than 48 hours earlier in the year.

It is now believed that Seán McClean of Hunterstown Rovers will be the only name on the ballot for the chair position when the county board meets next Tuesday.
