NEFL Division Two

Oldcastle United 1-6 Redeemer Celtic

Redeemer Celtic made it three wins from three league matches in Oldcastle on Sunday with a resounding 6-1 win over the natives.

Midfielder Stephen Smith opened the scoring for the Gorman Park side on nine minutes, volleying home from 25 yards.

But, despite Oldcastle being reduced to 10 men and Redeemer having a host of clear-cut chances, that was all that divided the teams at half-time.

And within minutes of the restart Oldcastle drew level after some slack play along the Redeemer defence allowed then through on ‘keeper Cillian Rice.

Thomas Conway responded, though, firing Celtic back in front within two minutes before Paul Gartland headed a corner to the net to all but earn the spoils.

Another defender, Conor Brennan, took a dash forward and stuck away goal number four, prior to Martin Murphy picking his spot in the corner of the net, making it 5-1.

Ronan Mulholland came off the bench and bulleted a header to the net to round off the scoring.

Redeemer Celtic: Cillian Rice; Caolan Carroll, Niall Kelly, Paul Gartland, Conor Brennan; Kevin McCormack, Stephen Smith, Thomas Conway, Andy McDermott; Dean McConnell, Barry Carr

Subs: Jamie O’Hare, Martin Murphy, Ronan Mulholland
