Dundalk FC have this evening announced the loan signing of striker Sam Byrne until July 2018.

The Dubliner has also been included in their squad to face Bray Wanderers at Oriel Park in tonight's SSE Airtricity League Premier Division opener. He will wear the number 12 jersey.

Byrne has represented Ireland at underage level while on the books of English giants Manchester United and Everton.

The forward, who has been training with Stephen Kenny's men recently, signs with his clearance to play in tonight's match having come through this evening.

He follows defender Daniel Cleary who penned a deal with the Lilywhites on Thursday. Though his deal is only until July, his contract with Everton is due to expire in the summer meaning he will be available on a free transfer come mid-summer.
