WINNERS | Dundalk Democrat Sports Person of the Year

The votes have been cast, counted and verified...

We're proud to reveal that Gary O'Hanlon - Dundalk's very own marathon man - has claimed the top prize of a six-month membership to Felda Health, Fitness and Spa. Gary claimed 25% of the vote. We hope his membership to the best fitness facility in the North-East will help him continue to achieve major feats.

However, there was a tremendous fight between three competitors for the second, third and fourth places. Indeed, less than 100 votes separated Kate O'Connor in second place and David McMillan who finished in fourth.

Hence, athlete O'Connor has claimed the €50 voucher for Lally's Electrical. In third place was the Dundalk Schoolboys League's Galway Cup goalscoring hero Jack Watters who will be presented with a €30 voucher for Print Express.

All the worthy winners will be presented with their prizes in the coming days.

A massive congratulations to the 20 sports stars who were originally shortlisted and then to the eight who contested the final. Also, we must pay a worthy mention to the general public. Over the course of the two-weeks, just shy of 40,000 votes were registered, an incredible tally and evidence of the passion local people have for sport in our area.
