Man and woman arrested after over €220,000 worth of cannabis is seized in Dublin

As part of intelligence-led operations, Revenue officers have seized 11.2kgs of herbal cannabis that is worth an estimated €224,000, following searches at two separate locations in Dublin on Friday, April 25.
 
These separate seizures were made as a result of joint operations conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and DMR North Central and DMR East Divisional Drugs Units.
 
A man aged in his 40’s and a woman aged in her 50’s were arrested by Gardaí and are currently detained at Garda Stations in Dublin under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
It is an offence to cultivate, import, export, produce, supply and possess cannabis except in accordance with a Ministerial Licence. Use for medical purposes requires case-by-case approval by the Minister for Health.
