The search for a teenage schoolgirl who was reported as missing earlier this week has been stood down, gardai have confirmed.

A public appeal for assistance in locating Nicole Doyle was issued on Wednesday - three days after the 15-year-old was last seen in the Portlaoise area of County Laois.

Efforts to locate Nicole have been ongoing since the weekend and in an update, issued this Thursday evening, gardai confirmed there has been a development in the case.

"Nicole Doyle, 15-years-old, who was reported missing in Portlaoise, County Laois on Sunday evening, December 8 2024, has been located by gardaí," said a spokesperson in a brief statement.

While no further information has been disclosed publicly, gardai have thanked members of the public and the media for their assistance with the appeal.
