A speeding motorist was caught by gardaí driving a BMW car at 136kp/h in a 50kp/h residential area in a town in the Midlands, a judge has heard.
Antoli Demeshkevych of Main Street, Ballymahon, County Longford pleaded guilty, at the local court, to dangerous driving at Clonbalt, Longford town at 10.30pm on May 5, 2024.
Sergeant Conor McShane told Judge Bernadette Owens the defendant was stopped by Garda Edward Flanagan after he detected driving at high speed.
The defendant was subsequently arrested and charged under the Road Traffic Act.

Defence solicitor Frank Gearty said his client was 18 and that it was one of the first times he had been behind the wheel of the vehicle.
"It was a car he was unaccustomed to," he stated.
Judge Owens questioned why an 18 year old was driving a BMW 5 Series car in the first place and she appeared concerned.
"That is a residential stretch of road," she added.
The case was put back until the afternoon and when the defendant failed to return to court it was adjourned until October 22 next.
