Ronan McDermott and wife Leona celebrate their wedding day with son Harraí in Redcastle on Saturday

Former Donegal hurling captain Ronan McDermott and his fiancee Leona McGlinchey tied the knot over St Patrick’s weekend.

Following their wedding at St Aengus' Church in Burt on Saturday, where Fr Paddy Baker performed the official duties, the happy couple were joined by family and friends for their reception at the Redcastle Hotel, where they danced the night away.

Ronan, from Burt, is the son of John and Majella McLaughlin. Leona, originally from Derry, has been living in Bridgend since the age of 12 and is the daughter of Derek McGlinchey and Christine Doherty.

Ronan and Leona, who have a three-year-old son Harraí, are currently in Paris, experiencing the sights and sounds of Disneyland Paris and have plans for a break in Corfu, Greece.

Ronan hurls for the local Burt club and is recovering from a cruciate injury picked up last year at Croke Park playing for Donegal in the Nickey Rackard Cup final. He is hopeful of returning to action for club and county this summer.
