A request has been made not to share footage on social media of a crash that took place on Saturday at a Harvest Rally event in Donegal, which left two people with serious injuries.
An Garda Siochana say investigations are ongoing after two spectators were hospitalised after being struck by a competing car whilst watching the Harvest Rally. Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene in Falcarragh, on Saturday at approximately 12:30pm.
“The individuals, both men aged in their 60s and 40s, were taken to Letterkenny University Hospital to be treated for injuries believed to be serious,” An Garda Siochana told DonegalLive. “No other injuries have been reported. Investigations are ongoing.”
Special Stage 5 of the Donegal Harvest Rally was cancelled following the incident. Before Callum Devine and Noel O’Sullivan won the event after completing the final stage, Stage 6.
“The club wish them a full and speedy recovery and would like to thank the emergency services, marshals and officials who attended the scene,” Donegal Motor Club said.
"The club are aware of footage of the incident circulating on social media and messaging applications and would urge people not to share such videos.”
