Gardaí catch moped rider driving drunk without tax, license or insurance

Gardaí have caught a driver travelling on a moped while drunk in the backroads of Kilkenny.

Officers who stopped the vehicle checked the Garda Mobility Device and discovered the driver had no driving license and on insurance.

Additionally, the vehicle hadn't been taxed in years.

Road deaths in 2023 have far exceeded the number recorded at the same time last year, with 136 people (as of this morning October 2) dead on Irish roads since the beginning of the year.

The total number of deaths recorded during the same period last year (January 1 to October 1, 2022) amounted to 113.
