When is the Irish Derby? Start time, runners, how to watch and which horse to back!

Katie Williams from Yorkshire and Caroline Kelly from London enjoy festivities at the Curragh on Saturday

The Curragh Racecourse provides the test for the talented crop of three-year-old colts that are set to contest one of the most prestigious races on the calendar – the Irish Derby on Sunday, July 2.

Auguste Rodin could bid to add a second classic to his resume after bouncing back from his 2000 Guineas flop to land the Derby at Epsom in early June.

The bookies' favourite will take on eight rivals in Sunday's Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at 3.40pm as he bids to become the first horse since Harzand in 2016 to win the Epsom Derby and follow up at the Curragh.

The Irish Derby could turn into a rerun of the English equivalent as a number of key players from Epsom are in contention to take their chance, with the race worth a huge €712,500 to winning connections.
