The Nissan Qashqai
The ever-popular Nissan Qashqai, a staple of Irish roads since 2007, has been given a fresh update for 2024 following its 3rd generation launch in 2021.
The front and rear see the most changes that Nissan describe as muscular, sharper, modern and sleeker which I suppose is par for any new model.
I had the chance to test it on a road trip to Monaghan for the launch event, though a mix-up on my part added an extra two hours to the journey.
Despite heading for Cavan by mistake, that extra time let me put the new 1.3 Mild Hybrid version through its paces before driving the e-Power version on the return leg.
The 1.3 Mild Hybrid system provides improved fuel efficiency by using stored battery energy to assist the petrol engine, making it more economical for everyday driving.
Nissan’s e-Power system allows the Qashqai to drive in 100% electric mode without needing to be plugged in, delivering smooth, quiet acceleration and EV-like responsiveness that exactly mirrors a pure EV car.
Here are some of the highlights of the new car ahead of a full review coming soon in Democrat Motoring.
The Qashqai’s Around View Monitor now offers an "invisible hood view," which allows drivers to see the front wheels from a virtual rear perspective, making parking and tight manoeuvres much easier. Equally, the upgraded 3D camera system provides views from eight different external camera angles, offering a deep immersive experience of the car's surroundings.
Higher trim levels feature Alcantara on the dashboard, door inserts, and even knee pads, adding an unexpected level of luxury typically found in sports cars.
The Qashqai comes with Google already built-in, allowing drivers to access Google Maps and Assistant for hands-free help, joining just a few crossovers with this feature fully integrated.
All trims come equipped with advanced safety features like Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Front Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Warning, and Traffic Sign Recognition.
Almost 60,000 Irish drivers have chosen the Qashqai since its 2007 launch, cementing its legacy as a crossover pioneer in Ireland and if Nissan were to offer a diesel version, they won’t be, the car would easily be in the top three best selling models here in Ireland.
Almost 60,000 Irish drivers have chosen the Qashqai since its debut, and with this 2024 refresh, Nissan continues to solidify its place as a leader in the crossover market. If they were to offer a diesel version, though they won’t, it would easily be among Ireland’s top three best sellers.
