The Peugeot 3008
The third generation Peugeot 3008 has just been launched. It’s a big seller for Peugeot here since it debuted back in 2007.
That popularity had led to it winning the Irish Car of the Year Award in association with Continental Tyres in 2010 and again in 2018 – I actually announced the car as the winner that year.
It will be in the mix for the 2025 award and if it wins that’ll see a hat trick of awards winning it every time the new model comes out which would be some feat.
The first models we see are the all-electric versions and there is also a mild hybrid version.
The all-electric direction of motoring shows no sign of abating in terms of model choice being offered but the pace of buyer pickup isn’t matching it.
Here in Ireland with advances in the charging network and as drivers become increasingly familiar with the machinations of electric driving, electric cars make a lot of sense.
This E-3008 for example is good for 527kms on a full charge and it’ll only take 30 mins to recharge it from 20% to 80% using a 150kW fast charger.
How many times will you need that? Coming soon is a long-range model promising 680kms which slays range anxiety completely here in Ireland.
Since I got a home charger fitted it makes electric car use so easy and hassle free that my wife is finally showing some interest in electric cars for her next car.
The E-3008 arrives as a fastback shape that Peugeot describes as a “Fastback SUV silhouette with feline stance mixing elegance with efficiency”.
I always liken these descriptions to a parent describing their own child that others just can’t see and stems from enormous pride.
I will say that the new 3008 is a stylish looking car and has that visual sophistication buyers like these days.
It follows a design theme from other current Peugeots which is a particularly good thing as the current line-up of Peugeots look very good indeed.
Prices for the new model start €43,965, are available in dealerships now and a full review will follow here in Democrat Motoring soon.
