Funeral details announced for 15-year-old teenager killed in 'horror' crash

The funeral details have been announced for 15-year-old Leah O'Meara who was tragically killed in a road crash on Thursday, February 15.

Leah was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision, after the car she was a passenger in crashed into another car near Rearcross on Thursday night. 

The collision occurred on the R503 at Rearcross, near Nenagh, at approximately 6.45pm on Thursday, February 15.

Leah O'Meara of Abbott Court, Holycross, Thurles, will repose at her home on Monday from 4pm to 7pm.

Removal on Tuesday morning to Bothar Na Naomh Church, Thurles to arrive at 9.30am for Requiem Mass at 10am.

Interment in St Patrick’s Cemetery, Thurles afterwards.

Since the tragic news broke out, tributes have been pouring in for the 15-year-old.

“My beautiful baby girl,” wrote Leah’s sister, Katie, as she shared a picture of the two of them.

A family friend remembered her as an intelligent young lady.

“I had the privilege of spending two weeks over Christmas with Leah who was an intelligent, funny and very pretty young lady and at just 15 years old, she will be terribly missed,” he wrote in tribute.

“Rest in peace beautiful Angel. I can’t believe im writing this she was the best looking girl that ever walked with a heart made of pure gold. God help her mother Father and her sisters give them comfort and her family my heart goes out to ye,” another friend wrote in tribute.

Gardaí in Nenagh are appealing for witnesses following the fatal collision.

The three other occupants of that car (a male in his 20s, a female in her 20s, and another female in her mid-teens) and the driver of the second car (an adult female) were transported by ambulance to Limerick University Hospital for assessment; their injuries are not deemed life-threatening.
