Bellurgan United U16 Girls travelled to Clonee to play Clonee United in the National Trophy.
The game was very competitive, with both sides creating several good scoring chances in the first 20 minutes; however, some fine defending and goalkeeping on both sides kept the game scoreless.

Bellurgan would take the lead after thirty minutes. Following some great midfield play, the ball was crossed by Roxanne Maguire to the back post, where Molly Gallagher scored with a header to the roof of the net.
Bellurgan continued to pile on the pressure they were rewarded with a second goal right on the stroke of half-time. The ball was worked out of defence to Aoife Havern, who drove at the home defence.
A neat one-two with Cara Mulrey created space on the edge of the box, and Havern blasted the ball to the net, giving the home keeper no chance.
The second half was not as open as the first with Clonee pressing to get back into the game but the Bellurgan defence stood strong.
It was the Bellurgan girls who created the better chances with the scoring wrapped up midway through the second half when Molly Gallagher broke through the home defence and crossed to Roxanne Magurie who controlled the ball before finishing to the bottom corner.
Bellurgan now progress to the round of sixteen of the National Trophy.
