Mannan Castle Seniors
This week, Past Club Captain and Past Senior Captain Jimmy McMahon (10) was the deserved overall winner of the 9-hole competition.
After a steady start, Jimmy parred holes thirteen and fifteen and finished in style with a long-range putt on the final hole for par and a 20-point total.
Category One winner Kieran Grimes (9) had an almost error-free round with pars on holes four, 13 and 17. A double bogey on his final hole cost him the overall prize, recording 19 points.
Category Two was extremely competitive, with four players having to be separated on countback after finishing tied on 18 points.
In the end, Richard Eakin (12) prevailed over Richard Mulholland (10), Arthur Mulholland (10) and Joe Mullen (11) thanks in large part to recording 7 points on his final two holes.
Countback was also required in Category Three with a trio of players carding 18 points. Liam Kenny (13) was the victor here with a back five of 12 points. Patrick Breen (15) and Sam Duffy (16), who were each subject to a one-point deduction, lost out.

Despite the heavy overnight rain, Mannan Castle Seniors' weekly competition took place as usual. Played over 11 holes, there was some excellent scoring. Best of the day was by Philip McEntee (16), who recorded 27 points.
Unfortunately for Philip, he was subject to a one-point deduction, leaving him on 26 points. This penalty was compounded when he lost out to Eamon Trainor (18) on countback.
Philip had five pars and a birdie in his round, but his failure to score on the final hole was costly. Eamon had a very steady round with five pars and scored on every hole to deserve the overall prize.
Countback was also a factor in Category Two, where Joe Mullen (22) edged out David Flynn (24) with both scoring 21 points. The three points Joe scored on the final hole proved crucial.
In Category Three, Terry Doherty (28) was the comfortable winner with a very good 24 points. Terry had a great finish, scoring 11 points in his final four holes.
