Naomh Moninne HC are preparing for their AIB Leinster Club Junior Hurling Championship quarter-final clash with Kildare champions Clane this Saturday, 8th November at 1.30pm in St Brigid’s Park, Dowdallshill.

Speaking ahead of the game, Moninne manager Aidan Carter spoke of the spirit within the squad.

He told the Dundalk Democrat,The mood in the camp is very positive. Training has been going really well, with an average of around 25 lads attending each session, which is fantastic to see.”

It’s been a memorable season for the Dundalk club, who captured a domestic double.

“Throughout the year, the lads have shown great character and total commitment to everything we’ve asked of them. Our main goal was to win the championship, and achieving the double was a tremendous bonus.

“As the season progressed, the players began to truly believe in themselves and their abilities, both individually and collectively. I’m confident they’ll carry that belief into Saturday’s match against Clane.”

Moninne are not competing in the provincial competition to make up the numbers.

“Every extra game at this stage of the season is a bonus, but we’re certainly not here just to make up the numbers. We want to go as far as possible in the Leinster campaign. As we have done all year, we’ll take things one game at a time.”

Carter knows the black and amber team will need to be firing on all cylinders to progress.

“We had the chance to watch Clane in their county final, and they’re a very strong side. We expect them to start fast and come at us hard.

“They have plenty of quality players in their squad, but so do we. It will all come down to how things unfold on the day.”

With the game taking place in Dundalk, the boss is happy with the home draw.

It’s always a great advantage to get a home fixture in these competitions. Dowdallshill is an excellent pitch, and our lads know it well. That said, the result will ultimately depend on hard work, determination, and performing to our best.

“Given the time of year and the likely weather conditions, it’s sure to be a real battle, and fitness will play a major role. We’re expecting strong support once again.

“Our Moninne supporters have been there for us all season, rain, hail, or shine, and Saturday will be no different; they’ll be there backing the lads all the way.”

Dublin's Mark Ryan has been named as the referee in charge for the game.
