A goal from Ryan Nugent helped the Drogheda men come out on top with the result dragging the Dundalk men very much into the relegation scrap as they sit on six points alongside the Blues, and just two points above Geraldines.
It was certainly looking promising for the visitors in the opening half as inspired by the kicking of Terry Kelly, they led by 0-10 to 1-5, with Nugent’s goalkeeping the hosts in contention.
However, the second half saw the Blues respond to the challenge as they managed to turn things around and they were certainly helped by the fact that the O’Mahonys had both Junior Shotayo and Luke Kelly dismissed.
Eoin McCoy brought his tally to five points for the night while subs Lorcan McQuillan and Eoin Brannigan were also on target as their side completed the turnaround.
Newtown Blues: Johnny McDonnell; Joey Nally, Ian Connor, Paul Moore; Jack Healy 0-1, Colm Judge, Jamie Kelly 0-1; Conor MacCriosta 0-1, Brian Kermode; Alan Connor, Emmet Murray, Sean Cummins; Ryan Nugent 1-0, Niall Devlin 0-1, Eoin McCoy 0-5.

Nh Fionnbarra 2-13 Glyde Rangers 0-15
Nh Fionnbarra kept the pressure on John Mitchels at the top of Division Three thanks to this hard-earned victory over Glyde Rangers on Saturday evening.
The Tallanstown side went into this back-fixture in Ballygassan hoping to build on their recent good form, but despite another encouraging display, they fell just short on this occasion.
Olan Crosbie led the challenge for Glyde as he kicked seven points while Ciarain Sheridan weighed in with a further five but in the end, it wasn’t enough as the visitors missed the chance to go joint second in the table.
Victory leaves the Barrs just two points behind John Mitchels at the top of the table with three games to play.
Glyde Rangers: Oran Matthews; Darren McKeever, Jack McKeever, Shane Byrne; Tadhg Kellett 0-1, Gerard Bourton, Sean Devaney; Adam Sweeney, Killian Scott; Lee Finnegan, Aaron Devlin, Olan Crosbie 0-7; Cormac Lundon 0-2, Ciarain Sheridan 0-5, Leigh Byrne.
