St Fechins were crowned Colm Geary Cup champions after a hard-fought win over Naomh Moninne on Thursday night.
The previous meeting between these two teams saw Moninne come away with the win but fortunes were reversed as the Fechins hurlers claimed the first Louth GAA silverware of the year.
Fechins opened their tally with a point from a placed ball expertly taken by Seán Kerrisk, this was followed by one from play from Barry Devlin.

Moninne responded with their opening point but were guilty of a number of wides in their following number of attacks. The turning point of the half came at the quarter-way stage when Moninne found the back of the net.
The teams exchanged points and went into the halftime stage with just the major between the sides.
Half time: St. Fechins 0-8 Naomh Moninne 1-8
The second half was a great battle with both sides giving it their all. Substitute Shane Curtis received a pass from Seaghan and found the back of the net to draw the sides level at 1-10 each.
Fechins had a chance at another goal but all credit to Moninne’s keeper who thwarted their efforts.
Fechins pulled ahead to go four in front which was pulled back to just three on a number of occasions but Fechins held out and came away with the cup.
A worthy final as the cup was presented to captain Donal Ryan by Colm Geary’s father and also by County Chairman Sean McClean.
