NA PIARSAIGH 1-5

OLIVER PLUNKETTS 0-7

Na Piarsaigh recorded a victory that had significance at both ends of the Division 3A table as they hit back to stun leaders Oliver Plunketts on Friday night.

The Dundalk men got their reward for their improved form over recent games as they picked up what could be a vital win in the battle against relegation.

The game at the Rock Road appeared to be following the expected script in the opening half as the visitors were on top and established a 0-4 to no score lead at half time.

However, Na Piarsaigh sensed that the league leaders were not at their best and took charge of the game. A Ciaran Murphy goal along with points from Robert Murphy, Fionn Tipping, Jamie Fealy and David Boyle saw the Dundalk men take the victory.

Sean Callaghan top-scored for the Plunketts and Cian Matthews chipped in with two, but it wasn’t enough to prevent a defeat that sees their lead at the top of the table cut to just one point.

WESTERNS 4-12

NH MALACHI 3-7

Westerns bounced back from their defeat to Wolfe Tones with victory over Nh Malachi to move two points clear of the Nicks at the top of Division 3B.

Wednesday night’s back fixture in Courtbane saw the visitors show their determination from the outset and by the interval they had all but wrapped up the win as they went in leading by 14 points.

Once again it was James Maguire who was a shining light in the performance as he bagged a personal tally of 2-7 to help his side come out on top.

Maguire landed 1-4 of that total in the opening period while Emmet Smyth and Conor Kerr also found the net to send their team in leading by 3-6 to 0-1 at the break.

The Malachis rallied in the second half and hit the net through Collie Rooney and a brace from Keelan Conlon. However, the Westerns were never seriously threatened and they completed the win with the help of Maguire’s second goal of the night.
