Monaghan County Council call for entries to 2026 Business & Tourism Awards

The awards were officially launched recently at the Nuremore Estate

Monaghan County Council is inviting businesses across the county to enter the Monaghan Business & Tourism Awards 2026, a new awards initiative celebrating excellence, innovation and enterprise across Monaghan’s business and tourism sectors.

The awards were officially launched recently at the Nuremore Estate by McGettigans in Carrickmacross and will culminate in a gala awards ceremony on Thursday, 17 April 2026, at the Nuremore Hotel.

The awards aim to recognise the contribution of businesses of all sizes and across all sectors, including tourism and hospitality, retail, agri-food, manufacturing, family-run enterprises and emerging businesses. As well as celebrating success, the initiative is designed to strengthen connections within the local business community and to acknowledge the collective effort behind Monaghan’s economic development.

Cathal Flynn, Director of Services for Planning, Economic Development, Capital Projects and Regeneration with Monaghan County Council, highlighted the wider value of the awards:

“The Monaghan Business & Tourism Awards are about far more than competition – they are about connection. They provide an opportunity for businesses to come together, to share experiences, and to take pride in what they have achieved. Importantly, the awards allow us to recognise and appreciate the dedication, resilience and hard work that underpin enterprise and tourism across County Monaghan.”

Entries are now open across a wide range of categories, including Innovation, Customer Service, Best Family Business, Best Newcomer, along with dedicated awards for Agri-Food and Green Business. Businesses may enter up to two categories.

Pamela Kerr, Head of Enterprise with Local Enterprise Office Monaghan, encouraged businesses to participate and to use the awards as a moment of recognition:

“Businesses in Monaghan put in an enormous amount of effort every day, often without pause or recognition. These awards provide a valuable opportunity to step back, to showcase achievements, and to feel pride in what has been accomplished. They also create a space for businesses to connect with one another and to celebrate the people behind the success.”

She added:

“The awards are ultimately about appreciation – recognising the commitment, ambition and perseverance that drive businesses forward and contribute so much to the economic and social life of the county.”
