Friday is a big night for fans of Dundalk FC who are hoping a win will seal the First Division title for the club, but they're also being asked to support another local cause on the night - a collection in aid of St. Patrick's Parish Soup Kitchen/Food Parcels.
The voluntary group completely relies on donations from the public and local businesses to fund the soup kitchen (the building on the left side of St. Patrick's car park, Roden Place) which provides a hot meal and a drink to those in need from 7-8pm Monday to Saturday and from 2-3pm on Sundays.
The Food Parcels are available on Fridays from 10-11am where basic food essentials are provided (including bread, milk, eggs and other alternating items like beans/peas, curry/pasta sauce, rice/pasta, teabags and breakfast cereal/porridge.)
Their volunteers will be holding a bucket collection at Oriel Park this Friday as the fans arrive for the Lilywhites' last home game against Finn Harps so the supporters who'd like to help their fundraiser are being asked to bring some extra change with them or to have their smartphones to hand if they'd like to donate online via a QR code that links to the group's i-donate account (https://www.idonate.ie /cause/12550)
The organisers say they would like to thank Dundalk FC for facilitating this collection (ahead of their annual bucket collection on December 12th) and of course all those supporters who are able to give on the night. C'mon the Town!
