Fixed Penalty Notices issued in August where evidence was found under the Litter Pollution Act 1997
Louth County Council's litter wardens completed 194 investigations in response to dumping reported by members of the public in August, and issued 24 Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) where evidence was found under the Litter Pollution Act 1997, latest figures from the local authority show.
The local authority says that its litter wardens continue to deal with all litter matters within the county daily responding to complaints from members of the public, councillors and engaging with tidy towns groups and communities.
Eight water pollution complaints were also received in August, with investigations and site visits carried out in all cases. Louth County Council said that all complaints are either resolved or in progress.
11 air pollution complaints were also received by the local authority in August, with complaints investigated and are either closed or in progress. One related to suspected backyard burning and further investigation required.
The remaining complaints related to odour from agricultural spreading and odour from a wastewater treatment plant. Five noise pollution cases received. One of these related to noise from a commercial business in a business park. Louth County Council says that it has engaged with the business to see what mitigation measures can be implemented. All complaints are either resolved or still under investigation.
During the month of August, Louth County Council also carried out eight planned farm survey inspections and three re-inspections under the Good Agricultural Practice Regulations 2022 (GAP). One warning letter was issued
