Louth County Council are warning the public about a scam
Louth County Council is urging members of the public to be vigilant of unauthorised individuals falsely claiming to be contractors working on behalf of the council.
In recent days, reports have emerged of workmen calling to homes in Mid-Louth stating they have leftover tarmac from resurfacing jobs allegedly carried out by the council.
These individuals may offer to carry out private work at a reduced cost.
The public is advised that:
- Louth County Council does not carry out private works for members of the public.
- Any such offers are not affiliated with or endorsed by Louth County Council.
- These individuals are not legitimate Louth County Council contractors.
Louth County Council urge the public to remain vigilant.

If you are approached by anyone claiming to represent the council in this manner:
- Do not engage or accept any offers.
- Report the incident immediately to An Garda Síochána.
- If possible, take note of vehicle registration numbers or other identifying details.
Please share this message with neighbours, especially those who may be more vulnerable to such scams.
