Plans underway for new residential development in Carlingford

Plans for a new mixed-use development in Carlingford are progressing, with a decision due from Louth County Council on a planning application by mid-July.

Mucklane Ltd applied for planning permission in September 2024, for the development at Greenore Road, Liberties, Carlingford, comprising the construction of a new 27 unit residential development and three shop units.

The proposed residential units comprise seven, three-bedroom, two storey terraced houses; four, two-storey, three-bedroom, semi-detached houses; a three-bedroom detached, two storey house; a two-bedroom, detached age friendly single storey house; four, two-bedroom, semi-detached single storey age friendly dwelling houses; and ten two-bedroom, terraced single storey age friendly houses.

Mucklane Ltd is also seeking the go ahead for three individual shop units with a combined total floor area of 200m2. The planning application also provides for all ancillary and associated site development works including site clearance works, new vehicular/pedestrian access to residential units off the R176 Greenore Road, and access to the shop units taken off the main access into the Clos Na Manach residential development.

A decision had been due last November on the planned development but further information was sought by Louth County Council. Significant further information was received by the local authority on 20 May on the development, which included a revised site layout, revisions to boundary treatments and landscaping, the omission of one residential unit, and the redesign of one house from a two bedroom house to a three bedroom house.

A decision is now due from Louth County Council by 14 July, with submissions due by 26 June.
